Psychological Therapy

Medicare Based Services

All Clinical Psychologists at Cygnet are registered with Medicare Australia and can accept referrals from General Practitioners, Psychiatrists and Paediatricians for 10 sessions through the Better Access to Mental Health Initiative. The majority of patients referred under Medicare do so through their GP. To be eligible, you must meet the criteria for a psychological disorder such as Depression or Generalised Anxiety. More information is available on the Better Access to Mental Health website. Our Fees vary according to the choice of clinician and the day of service (for example weekdays versus weekends). There is no bulk-billing options for Clinical Psychologist, as Cygnet is a Private Practice, however there is a 50 cent gap for those with a Health Care Card. Please contact us for information on fees.
Individual Therapy

You may opt to book an appointment without a Medicare based referral. Private Health Funds (depending on fund and coverage) can provide rebates for non-medicare based consultations.

Group Therapy

We have developed group programs for developing positive psychological health in children, mood management, and building psychological resiliency in adolescents. These programs are designed for 10 people running for 10 weeks and are subsidised by Medicare for people on a mental health care plan.

DVA Consultations

We have extensive experience in assisting veterans with a range of difficulties, including depression, trauma, substance/alcohol problems, intimacy difficulties, anger management and integration into civilian life. Please let us know at the time of your booking if you have a DVA card.
Psychological Assessment

Cygnet in an established centre specialising in Psychological Evaluations for a range of purposes, including Psychological Diagnosis, Neuropsychological Assessments, Educational & Learning Disorders and Medico-Legal Assessment.

We provide neuropsychological evaluations for the following difficulties: Acquired Brain Injuries, Capacity Assessments, Cognitive Functioning, Degenerative Diseases, Dementia and Memory Problems. Neuropsychological evaluations are very detailed and comprehensive, requiring a longer appointment and the use of specialist test.

Criminal Injuries Compensation Cygnet Clinic specialises in providing independent evaluations for the purposes of Criminal Injury claims through the state funded compensation. The assessment process involves structured interviews alongside psychometric testing to determine the impact of the criminal event(s) and whether it meets the criteria for criminal injury stipulated by the Criminal Compensation Act (2003).
Educational Services

Cognitive and Learning Assessments

Cygnet has a staff members (Jane Ebert & Jessica Pitt) who are both a Clinical Psychologists and a School Psychologists available for conducting assessments in school and educational based problems. This includes problem behaviours at school, tests of intellectual functioning, assessing childhood depression or anxiety, and educational achievement testing and reporting.
Affordable Psychological Assessments through LCPC Clinic

Full cognitive assessments (WAIS-IV or WISC-IV) are available through our LCPC clinic for a heavily discounted fee (6% of standard fee). Referrals are strictly limited due to high demand. Find more about our LCPC clinic here.
Professional Development Workshops & Master Classes

Cygnet provides seminars and workshops in a range of mental health areas, including post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, depression and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. We also provide training for general practitioners in the area of managing personality disorders and best practice guidelines for treating depressive disorders.

Clinical Supervision

Cygnet has experienced Clinical Supervisors registered with AHPRA. We supervise registrars undertaking advanced specialist training as well as postgraduate students on practicum. We have AHPRA registered Clinical Supervisors for Registrar Programs (Clinical) in both Child Psychology and Adult areas available for external supervision (or agency contracted supervision). We regularly undertake supervision of final year Masters students on both Child and Adult Clinical Placements. If you are a postgraduate Masters student, please contact your Placement Co-ordinator to arrange a placement at Cygnet.

Research Supervision

Many of our staff hold a Doctoral degree and several with PhD qualifications. We are available for supervision of applied research as part of a higher degree.
