Dr Mitchell is a fully registered Clinical Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Claire is an empathic and personable clinician who is passionate about helping individuals develop a greater understanding of themselves in order to facilitate growth and live a value-driven life. Claire has experience in a range of different therapeutic approaches, and tailors the approach based on individual need.
Claire has worked in inpatient and outpatient settings within the WA Health Department, which involved working with adult trauma and gender dysphoria in children/adolescents. Currently, she also works with a community not-for profit organisation which provides therapy and support for children with disabilities and their families.
Claire has also been actively involved in different research projects, including research on the experience of unresolved grief in parents with children with cystic fibrosis, and developing policy around early warning systems in disaster-affected countries. Claire completed her PhD in 2018. Her research explored the possible factors that might underlie the experience of unusual visual perceptual experiences (and other types of unusual perceptual phenomena) in individuals that do not have psychosis.
