Introduction
Dr Chiara Paganini is an AHPRA-registered Clinical Psychologist with more than 10 years of experience across legal psychology, medico-legal assessment, disability assessment, neurodevelopmental diagnosis, private clinical practice and university teaching. Her legal psychology work includes the assessment of children, adolescents and adults referred in criminal and medico-legal matters, with experience preparing independent psychological reports addressing diagnosis, mental state, cognitive and neurodevelopmental factors, functional impact, risk, treatment needs, rehabilitation and prognosis. She also has experience in family law matters, including parenting disputes, parental capacity, child wellbeing and family dynamics.
Her broader assessment expertise includes disability and functional capacity, psychological injury and trauma, cognitive and personality assessment, Autism and ADHD, and structured risk assessment.
Dr Paganini has extensive experience integrating complex clinical interviews, psychometric assessment, collateral information and detailed review of legal and medical records into clear, balanced and evidence-based opinions. She has worked with lawyers, government agencies, medical practitioners and multidisciplinary teams, and is experienced in preparing reports for court, disability and other formal decision-making contexts. Her areas of interest include criminal and medico-legal psychological assessment, family law and parental capacity assessment, psychological injury and functional impact, cognitive and neurodevelopmental assessment, and risk assessment, sentencing and court reports.
