Mareese McLoughlin, Clinical Psychologist

Introduction

Mareese provides a safe, kind, supportive therapy space to reflect, explore and create change with meaningful consideration not judgement. She works with adults experiencing a range of mental health issues and wellbeing concerns.

Mareese can assist with emotional and mood difficulties, and problems with relationships, including conflicts and worries at work. Mareese has experience working with individuals experiencing problematic alcohol and drug use, depression, anxiety, panic attacks, stress, low self esteem, self harm, and trauma / PTSD. She also assists people who have experienced childhood trauma, and concerns with dissociation, nightmares / night terror as well pain / tension and stress held in the body.

Mareese is a trauma informed therapist (which means working together at your pace and always with your consent before trying different approaches/solutions), and she uses a range of different therapies to best suit someones specific needs and concerns.

Mareese works with clients from 18 years old and up.

Interventions

Mareese always works from within a psychodynamic approach, which means paying attention to how past relationships have informed and impacted someone and how they have learned to survive and cope. Often these learned patterns of survival and coping become very automatic and are being repeated in the present; and can be at the cost of feeling calm, at peace and open to other ways of thinking and feeling.

In case you would like to look these up before starting therapy; the main therapy approaches Mareese uses include;

* Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) / with elements of Schema Therapy
* Internal Family Systems (IFS)/ Parts work
* Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR) - a somatic: mind and body based therapy
* Eye Movement [trauma] Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)
